Ink

I'm really enjoying it. Doing these drawings in ink washes has been very therapeutic for some reason.

The Crane Wife WIP

The Crane Wife 2 by the Decemberists is one of my absolute favorite songs . It's the 2nd part in 3 songs (1 & 2 are on the same track) and is incredibly beautiful.

It tells the story of a poor Japanese man who one day finds a crane in the forest around his home. It lay wounded on the ground with an arrow it's wing, and taking pity on the creature he took it home and dressed it's wounds, then released it when it was recovered. The next day under the moonlight, a beautiful woman stood at his door seeking shelter and he allowed her to come inside. After time, they fell in love and were married but they were very poor. The woman told her husband that if she were allowed several hours she could weave him a beautiful cloth that he could sell for a great amount of money but he could not watch her do it. So she went behind closed doors and indeed produced a rich, beautiful fabric that the man sold for a great amount.

They were wealthy for a time but it soon faded. The man demanded his wife continue weaving over and over again as his greed had taken over in their new wealth, despite the fact that the constant weaving was causing his wife great sadness and weariness. One day as the woman wove alone in her room, the man's curiosity got the better of him and he peered inside. He saw that she had transformed into her true form- the crane he had helped. She was plucking her own feathers and weaving them into the fabric- her own blood and beautiful feathers were painfully being sewn into the cloth, making them as beautiful and fair as they were. When she saw that he was watching her, the spell of her transformation was broken and she flew away, never to return.

This is clearly just up my alley with my obsession with tragic romances.

Tasty little tidbits #2

Not my photo- but this is basically what I made- I forgot to take a picture lol

Let it be known that I can kinda cook. Spaghetti with chunky lobster sauce = delicioussss. I changed the recipe a little bit based on the comments on the page but it was equally delicious. I have a seafood & pasta obsession- so the combo is just too much for my brain

For anyone who wants to give it a try! [ http://allrecipes.com//Recipe/lobster-pasta/Detail.aspx ] Ask me if you're curious on what I did differently and I'll be happy to share! :)

Moar NYC

I'm gonna be honest with you. I really, overall, can't stand the city. I feel suffocated by the close proximity of everyone and depressed by the lack of nature overall.

But I will admit...

There is a certain romance to it also.

Chiptunes in the big apple

http://8bc.org/members/IAYD/

I spent 2 days in NYC, staying in Chelsea so I could see a chiptune show with my friends in Brooklyn. It was pretty awesome. IAYD (I Am Your Destroyer) was the headliner and the others were DEADBEATBLASTZ, iCactus & various others- pretty awesomesauce. I wish I had had my camera to take a good video but I didnt know how big this show would be and if I'd wanna drag Pigeon (that's the name I gave for my camera abroad lol) along. Eitherway it was pretty sweet and you should check out IAYD- for realz.

Tasty Little Tidbit

Dried fruit from Italy was basically the most delicious thing ever. This was my favorite combo- raspberries and coconut. I miss it dearly.

is my brother: http://theotheronefoot.blogspot.com/

He also has a blog- his writing is quite funny, so I suggest you follow him as well. I'm not just saying that to be nice (you're welcome Alex). I'm clearly a good sister. Also I illustrated the disturbing banner image. Yes it is a hippo with the likeness of the Uni Bomber- read his posts to understand . :)

Another compilation of sketches from my time in Italy.

Italian Sketchdump 1

Excuse the horrendously ugly file- I just wanted to compile some of my drawings from Italy in a little more space-friendly way. More to come!

An awkward, college-like icebreaker of an introduction

Hello there- my name is Taylor- known by some as Tay, Tay-Tay, T-Crocks, slut, you know, all the little things passed around between friends. I decided that it was basically pathetic that I didn't have some sort of sketch blog yet and if I can actually advertise myself the plan is that it will encourage me more than my deviantART ever did -besides, one gets tired of seeing inflated furries on the front page of your art site everyday.

So I guess that's a good enough segue into my saying if you're looking for inflated furry art this probably isn't the place for you. But stick around because you might find something else you might like.

So what can I say about myself to those who don't know me. I'd like to take a different approach for you getting-to-know of me: my idea of the perfect day here in the 860:

Wake up early and well-rested on a summer morning with Nate (the bf) despite having stayed up late, leading to an hour or so long morning bath (prefferably in a claw-footed tub fronted by large bay windows that look out onto a temperate wood with a stream in the backyard of course). After getting dressed I'd sit and enjoy a breakfast of an egg & cheese on a croissant/chocolate chip pancakes/ honey bunches of oats with strawberries while reading my current book. My day would consist of most of these activities (not necessarily in order) drawing, painting, a nap with Nathan, shopping, vidja games, taking photos, hunting for frogs, playing with my dog, enjoying time with my family. My day would be concluded by a bonfire & s'mores with my friends and watching a ridiculously bad movie and laughing till we cry/ loitering somewhere into the wee hours and talking about everything & anything. When finally in bed, I'd snuggle up to the bf, watch adult swim, and drift off to sleep. I'm fairly simple of a person.

Now that the college ice-breaker crap is over I'll start posting sketches. Saving up for a cintiq currently... only $500 or so to go.... :`D
